Class 2 have been making the most of the autumn season over the past couple of weeks! We have been busy exploring the wonderful colours, textures and natural materials that autumn brings. We have been talking about the changes we notice as summer turns to autumn, from the weather becoming colder to the leaves changing colour and falling from the trees. The children have enjoyed spotting these signs of autumn in the world around them and exploring some in the classroom!
We have been getting creative with lots of autumn-inspired crafts! The children have enjoyed using natural materials to make their own autumn headbands, creating spooky Halloween wreaths and painting some beautiful autumn trees using cotton buds and the lovely colours we can see all around us at this time of year.
In Maths, we have been exploring numbers 1–5, using conkers and other autumn treasures to represent different quantities. We have also been practising recognising and matching different representations of the same number.
Our learning in Literacy has been inspired by some wonderful stories! After reading ‘Leaf Man’, the children had lots of fun using leaves and other natural materials collected from outside to create their very own Leaf Men.
We have also been reading and sequencing ‘Room on the Broom’, which inspired some spooky activities! The children helped the Witch by making lists for her magical spells and using their counting skills to add the correct number of ingredients to the cauldron. 🧙♀️
What a busy and wonderful few weeks of autumn learning we have had in Class 2! 🍁
